100 percent renewable energy is generated from the sewage sludge, which is used to dry the sewage sludge and is fed into the Kiel district heating network as 100% climate-neutral district heating.

The combustion temperature of 900 degrees Celsius ensures that e.g. drug residues or microplastics are completely burned. The annual capacity is planned at 120,000 tons of original substance with a water content of 75 percent. 30,000 tons of dry matter are to be incinerated annually.
